e at Ebenezer believe in the one true God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (the Holy Trinity).  We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, the Son of God and the Savior of the world.  We believe that Jesus is the Lord whom we serve in our everyday lives.  We believe in the centrality of worship, Word and Sacrament.  We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.

The purpose of this informational guide is not to pretend that we are better than other churches or to brag.  That goes contrary to the Scriptures which show that "all sin and fall short of God's glory."  We all need a Savior and to that end churches should show humility and be weary of conceit.  This is an information guide.  There are indeed many good options in terms of churches in the community.

Ebenezer is above all a Christian Church.  Historically there are many branches of the Christian Church, but there is one church in Jesus Christ centered in Word and Sacrament (Word of God events).  Our history is connected with the movements of immigrants into the United States in the 19th century resulting in the formation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, named after an initial settlement in the state of Missouri.  We are part of a congregational system which ackowledges important beliefs and doctriines as expounded in the Holy Scriptures as interpreted by the Lutheran Confessions and universal ecumenical Creeds.

Lutherans took their name from Dr. Martin Luther, who reformed the church in the 16th century in what is known as the Protestant Reformation.  We have our roots in the historic early church and the Roman Catholic Church before the Reformation.  We also have ties to the Orthodox Church since, it too, has given much to define our identity.  Next to the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church, Lutherans are the largest group of Christians in the world.

Ebenezer Lutheran Church was started in 1907 as a mission church.  Some of our members were professors at Immanuel Lutheran College, a training school for black Lutheran church workers.  Our Chapel ws built in 1929 and our current sanctuary in 1959.  Our new facility consists of a large narthex, fellowship/recreational hall, and nursery rooms.  There areas were completed in 1998.

Ebenezer is described as Lutheran, Confessional, Orthodox, Liturgical, Evangelical Catholic (universal), and Scriptural.  We love great liturgy and great music and desire the best of the churches tradition for people of all ages in a world of secularism.  Our interests include: worship, mission, ministry to suffering people in the world and in Greensboro, moral issues and those of justice, music, visual arts and symbols, teens, seniors, couples, singles, adult, senior Christians, child education, and a concern for one another.

Ebenezer is involved in supporting world missions, Greensboro Urban Ministry, Lutheran World Relief, International Lutheran Laymen's League, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Habitat for Humanity, Lutheran Family Service, the promotion of unity in Christ's Church.  We have a diversity of people, but are united in a common faith and worship.

We are members of the South-Eastern District of the Lutheran Church and the Piedmont Circuit.  We fell very close to many Christian fellowships, engage with them in friendly support and debate, and in a mutual love and respect for one another.
