Welcome to the Season of Lent at Ebenezer...
"After Epiphany the mood of our worship changes abruptly. Joy gives way to penitence as we begin to commemorate the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. Ash Wednesday makes the beginning of Lent. The season reaches its climax on Good Friday and comes to an end on Holy Saturday. As we recall the depth of Christ's agony in torture and on the Cross, we are compelled to remember that our sins brought this upon Him. So, we search our souls and humble our hearts. The color violet signifies this penitent mood. However, there is nothing morbid about this concentration on guilt and suffering. It is the source of great relief and strength to us. For, through His bitter agony and death Christ removed our guilt and won the forgiveness of our sins. As we see Him upon the cross we are looking at the price of our salvation." (Daniel G. Reuning)
Come join us at Ebenezer and let us look to Christ together, Him who has brought us peace, life, love, and hope.
